We generate carbon credits on an ongoing basis, from the power plants that we build and own. One carbon credit represents the reduction of one metric ton of carbon dioxide, or its equivalent in other greenhouse gases.

Credits are a key component of national and international emission trading schemes that have been implemented to mitigate global warming. They provide a way to reduce greenhouse gas effect on an industrial scale. The carbon markets/ carbon exchanges assign a monetary value through trading. Credits can be exchanged between businesses or bought and sold in international markets at the prevailing market price. Credits can be used to finance renewable energy projects.

Credits are typically generated from emissions-reducing projects. The most common project type are those that produce renewable energy, such as wind farms, biomass energy, solar power, or hydroelectric dams.
